Packers Notes is the creation of Michael Rodney, who has been writing about the Green Bay Packers for over 30 years. His first blog, Packer Update, hit the internet in 2004. Thursday Thoughts: 2021 Schedule

It’s hard to predict in May how an NFL schedule will play out in November, but the Packers’ road to the Super Bowl sure looks daunting – even with Aaron Rodgers at quarterback. If you assume it’ll take at least 10 wins to make the postseason, even if you give the Packers five wins in […]

Top 10 Reasons To Trade 12

I‘ve been blogging about the Packers since 2004, and the only time I’ve ever been accused of being a homer is when it comes to quarterback Aaron Rodgers. I supported him during the debacle with Brett Favre in 2008, and I defended him after some subpar performances in the postseason. So I take no pleasure […]

Monday Musings: Defensive Line

Even if Aaron Rodgers is traded in the next few months – which I still think is fairly unlikely – the reaction of Packers’ fans at training camp won’t be nearly as apoplectic as it was during the now infamous summer of 2008. Despite being the better quarterback, Rodgers has never been as beloved as […]

If I Were The GM: 2021 Draft

I hate when a year or two after the fact people say they would’ve drafted this guy instead of that guy. It’s too easy. So I decided to pick along with GM Brian Gutekunst and make my selections right before he made his. Here are my picks:   Round 1 – I considered corner to […]

Thursday Thoughts: Touchdown Jesus

It’s difficult to believe the Packers are going to have to endure another drama involving their star quarterback, but perhaps that’s the price a team has to pay for greatness at the game’s most important position. Very few of these relationships end well, and while it may be annoying, it sure beats the heck out […]

Best Available Quarterbacks

With disgruntled superstar and reigning MVP Aaron Rodgers almost certain to sit out all offseason activities, the Packers are going to have to add another quarterback to the roster. Considering Jordan Love’s inexperience, it would behoove general manager Brian Gutekunst to sign a veteran who’s played meaningful snaps in the National Football League. Pickings are […]

Summer Of The Disgruntled QB II

From the team that brought you Summer of the Disgruntled QB comes the sequel every fan of the Bears and Vikings has been waiting for, Summer of the Disgruntled QB II. It may be 13 years later, but don’t worry, many of your favorite characters are returning. And to make things even better, the roles […]

Packers Keep Filling Needs On Day 2

Earlier this week, I listed the Packers’ top four needs as cornerback, offensive line, defensive line, and wide receiver. Well, you can cross three of them off the list. After selecting corner Eric Stokes in round one, general manager Brian Gutekunst added an offensive lineman (Josh Myers) and a wide receiver (Amari Rodgers) in rounds […]

Another Draft, Another Corner

For the ninth time in the past 10 drafts, the Packers chose a defensive player with their first pick. And for the fourth time in the past seven drafts, that defensive player was a cornerback. Georgia’s Eric Stokes will now join a secondary that features two other No. 1 picks (Jaire Alexander and Darnell Savage) and […]

Thursday Thoughts: Draft Memories

The NFL Draft is tonight, and for the 41st year in a row, it’ll be televised on ESPN. Prior to 1980, most fans simply read about their team’s picks in the newspaper the next day. But it’s a big event now – one that gets much higher ratings than NBA and Major League Baseball playoff […]
